This past December I had the opportunity to travel up to Canada to work on a project with Nike Running. Maybe one of the coolest aspects about it was that the influencers involved had no idea what was going on the entire time they were there. They were only given info five minutes before something would happen. Such as, “Pack your bag, you’re going to Canada” or “Put on these clothes and meet us downstairs for a workout” (which then resulted in them piling into a helicopter and flying up to a peak at an even higher elevation). I cannot explain how pumped I was for this. We took a helicopter up to a remote cabin in the Bugaboos, which is a mountain range in the Purcell Mountains in eastern BC. We spent three days shooting which involved being towed around in a toboggan and flown up to an even higher mountaintop in the Bugaboos for an intense NTC workout. While commercial shoots are a ton of fun, they’re also really stressful and the weather conditions didn’t help at all. On day one, after having shot in a mixture of snow and rain for two hours, one of my cameras died. Another reminder to always have back up gear! Even with that hiccup, I couldn’t have asked for it to go any more smoothly. It was great getting to hear a couple triathletes speak and watching Nike Master Trainer, Eva Redpath, lead these NTC workouts was rad. The workouts looked like they would be difficult enough on solid ground, let alone in the snow; so props to all of the influencers for pushing through them. Project North was incredible and I'm so thankful to have been a part of it.
